FAQ

What is MTU and how do you calculate it?
MTU (Monthly Tracked Users) is the number of unique users you send a message to in a month through broadcasts or automations, either from the dashboard or API. If a user receives more than one message in a month, the MTU is counted as one. Messages sent outside Engage, your transactional emails for example, do not count towards your MTU.
What is a data event?
A data event is an action triggered from any of our supported integrations to Engage on behalf of the user or a user event sent through the API and SDKs. Examples include data sent from your payment integrations or transactional email events from your email service provider. Integrations that Engage send data to do not count as part of your data event. An example of this is our Slack integration.
What happens if I go over my MTU or event limit?
If you are on a paid plan, we will continue to receive events above your limit and charge you at the next billing cycle for the extra events. MTUs cost $5 per 1,000 over the limit. Event data costs $3 per extra 10,000 over the limit.
If you are on the free plan, we send you a limit warning at 80% and 90% utilisation. Once you hit limit, we notify you and stop receiving further events. Everything else will continue to work as normal.
